Thanksgiving is the perfect holiday to tide me over til Christmas. It's full of food and family, triple pay and paid vacation days...love it. On Thursday I went over to my mom's house and we had a Whole Foods Thanksgiving. Just a week earlier I was wondering, 'Who would buy an entire T-giving meal from Whole Foods?' Answer: my family. Oh well, it was pretty good and satisfied both the vegetarians and turkey eaters, everything just needed a dash of salt.

Fizzle Fizzle Fall
About three weeks ago, Dave, my mom and I went down for a walk in the bosque to get a little closer to the fall colors. It was one of the last weekends that was still really warm and there were SOOOO many people out on the trail walking and biking right before sunset. It's a bizarre November this year and I think everyone has been expecting the warmth to disappear at any minute, and enjoying the bright warm days that are still here. Snapped a few pics while we were out:
Happy Thanksgiving!

Da Big Cheese
Have I ever mentioned D's deep love of cheese? It's as deep as the largest ocean and as high as the tallest mountain. His love for cheese has gotten him in to trouble a few times, but he always comes out okay in the end. I appreciate cheese and eat it on almost everything, but definitely do not have as much love as D does.
Most recent sign of his undying love:
I came home tonight to see David had bought a giant box of table crackers from Costco. Granted we do go through crackers a lot, but we usually buy as we go. This is really thinking ahead:

It's been a while..........
Life has been busy and tiring lately and stress and exhaustion aren't very good blog subjects, so instead of writing, I've been sleeping in and watching WAY too much tv. But in the spirit of Friday, and much welcomed recooperation this weekend, here are some things on my mind:
1. As I type this my nephew is half asleep on my lap with his pants off. He is potty training and I'm no stranger to this world so I just keep asking him if he needs to use the potty and make little prayers that he doesn't plant a big doody in my lap or pee on me because I have to wear these pants to work. (he's very entranced by typing right now).
2. I'm sick with allergy / cold junk. My ears and sinuses become more congested every day and I haven't taken anything thus far, but I think it's time if I plan on having any kind of productive weekend. Plus, it's hard to work when you feel so blagh, so I need to kick the emergen-c into high gear and get some mucinex.
3. It's that time of year when work is supposed to slow down (except it's not) and everyone is taking lots of time off, except for me. (Narayan just feel asleep, all spread eagle in my lap, this would be a great picture). Anyways, I'm at work, surrounded by dumb new people and cranky other people, and I'm definitely ready for the holidays to come around so I can get away.
4. Speaking of getting away, David flies out to New Hampshire on Thanksgiving Day and will be gone for a week, visiting his dad. That's fine, no problem, but he wants to have a friendly pre-Thanksgiving dinner at our house this weekend where he and I attempt to cook a full holiday meal and / or have people bring side dishes. Last night I made him aware that turkeys take hours and hours to cook and that I don't want to spend my Saturday cooking. We'll see, it's still up in the air. I understand the spirit of it and would love to have a dinner party complete with centerpieces and seasonal cocktails, but just wish I had more notice I guess bc it stresses me out to think we would have to throw everything together in one day.
5. In other holiday news, I'm excited about holiday decorations. Thanksgiving officially marks Christmas tree season and Xmas cards. Every year we contemplate having a real tree (I'm very anti real tree), and I always see these beautiful trees in magazines and stores, but when we decorate ours (we have two fake ones), they look like trailer park specials. Every year we want to change it up and find ourselves at Walmart looking at all the prices, and end up settling for the cheapest cheapy ornaments because really? who has tons of extra money to spend on decorating after Xmas present shopping? not us. So this next week while David is gone, I want to set up the trees and house by myself and try and brainstorm some creative new way to decorate the trees, affordably. OOO maybe a day of the dead themed tree with like little tin foil framed skull pictures? I dunno, just a first thought (AND to think of it I already have red chile xmas light strands that would go perfectly with the skulls!)
Also on the list: Christmas cards? When we are at the store, it always seems like a good idea and we pick some out, and then never send them. I end up doing all the work and get half of them addressed and ready and then realize I don't have enough stamps, or they need extra postage, or I don't have enough cards. Last year I sent out cards that I'd written the years before and never sent. Also, I'm so, I guesss, shyish, that I feel weird sending out pictures of Dave and I, but when I get other people's cards, I keep their pictures and cards on the fridge for forever. I've been taking lots of random pictures with my new camera, maybe I can make some kind of cards using those. If so, I HAVE to start this week! wow, my to do list is growing by the minute. (Narayan is still asleep).
6. Harry Potter is in theaters. Just what I needed. Movies, relaxing, dark places, teen angst, wizardry, Valdemort.... right up my alley.
7. I can't eat enough soup. You could puree a sandwich and I would still love it. It's easy to eat at my desk, and warms me up. yumm yumm. On Wednesday, Whole Foods had some really good sounding flavors and I settled on Califlower Curry, mmmmmmmmmm. (I just got him in bed and managed to get a diaper on him with waking him up too much, he's so warm and cute when he's sleeping).
8. A friend at work turned me on to these weird little character pictures. I'd never ever heard of them before, but they are freaking funny and the productivity of my team has hit an all time low since we all now scour the internets for the funniest picture. Separately Google these images: Asian father, advice dog, paranoid parrot, philosoraptor, bachelor frog, and my personal favorite: hipster cat. Hilarious.
9. I think we are going to finally get Luka Lukes a sister this Christmas. We are really serious. But first, we have to get him updated on his shots and I think tomorrow will be the day... poor guy. He's only been to the vet once and in the two years since then has developed somewhat of an attitude problem so I hope he doesn't get defensive or scared. We'll see... and then hopefully the darn city will stop bugging me about being WAY outdated....which reminds me, I need a new license as of 11/22/2010 and my car registration expires this month....things come in threes.
But anyways, I've been looking at the local shelter dogs again and my heart just breaks for the babies in their kennels all scared. If I took them all I'd have a ton of Chihuahua mixes and Pit bull mixes and that would be crazy. But hey, new year, new puppy, and it will be good for Luka's 'attitude problem' to have another dog to make him lighten up a bit.
10. budget, savings, diets, christmas shopping, vacations, cleaning, organizing, winter clothes, babysitting, getting dressed for work, being error free at work for the rest of the year (fingers crossed), gotta finish my year end evaluation, gotta take my car in for a recall, get cd player fixed, front tire is low, need oil change, REALLY need to clean car, fold lots of laundry, unpack suitcase from last weekend, shower?, tea, soup, pizza, (Narayan just woke up, it's been almost 2hrs -- good), Christmas parties, people in town, my sister wants us to go to T or C for a pre Xmas spa / spring getaway, new bathingsuit? on clearance? when is the next paydate? finally paid the outstanding late balance on my student loan, need to pay gas and electric bill...late, license, car registration, emission test? dog shots, haircut? GRE application, lllllllaaaaayyyyyyy onnnnn myyyyyyy couuuuucccchhhhhhh.

nothing to report on the homefront
but last weekend while Dave was napping on the couch I decided to go outside and water our very resilient tomato / basil / and jalepeno plants and ended up having an impromptu photo shoot with some insects. One was far more cooperative than the other. See below:
That is all for now. More to come later after I have gotten some rest....................
